The 2003 Satoshi Kon classic, Tokyo Godfathers, will be getting a vinyl soundtrack release via Tiger Lab Vinyl. With music composed by Keiichi Suzuki, the film stars a gang of three unlikely misfits who happen to stumble across a castaway infant. Intent on finding a home for the lost child, the alcoholic Gin, teenage runaway Miyuki, and drag queen Hana search all over Tokyo in hopes of finding the baby’s parents. Tokyo Godfathers is one of the more popular works from Kon, who is also famous for classic anime films such as Perfect Blue and Paprika.
Pre-orders open May 20th, but there are currently no details on an estimated ship date or an official track list. Stay tuned for more information and set your calendars if you intend to add this to your collection. Popular Tiger Lab pressings have been known to sell out in mere minutes.
Update (May 20th): The Tokyo Godfathers vinyl soundtrack is now available for pre-order from the Tiger Lab Vinyl online shop. The transparent orange and clear swirl variant has quickly sold out, but the opaque orange and red swirl variant is still available.
