One of the most anticipated anime-related vinyl releases is nearly here. Milan Records has just announced upcoming pre-orders for the Neon Genesis Evangelion vinyl soundtrack that start on July 14th.
The Gainax produced anime directed by Hideaki Anno first aired in 1995 and quickly became one of the most popular anime series of all time. It’s cultural relevance and influence on the industry is nearly unmatched in the decades following its release, so it’s no surprise that fans have been clamoring for this release for years.
There was a 2LP Evangelion vinyl pressed in Japan back in 2015, but release was limited and that record now sells for up to $1,000. Needless to say, it has been out of reach for most fans. This new release may have a different track list, but getting this music on vinyl and making it more accessible to its legion of fans is a welcome sight for sure.
Three variants have been announced so far: a wide release, a RightStuf Anime variant, and a Mondo variant. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting vinyl release!
