Monster Original Soundtrack Limited Edition Vinyl

We have news that a slew of new releases from French label Kana Music are coming up later this year, and included in that batch is the original soundtrack to 2004 anime Monster.

Monster is a psychological thriller anime series written and illustrated by Naoki Urasawa. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Original from 1994 to 2001, with the chapters collected and published into 18 volumes. The anime adaptation was produced by Madhouse and directed by Masayuki Kojima, and it aired on Nippon Television from 2004 to 2005.

The story follows Kenzo Tenma, a brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon who works at Eisler Memorial Hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany. Tenma is a skilled surgeon, but he is also a man of principle. When he is ordered to operate on a wealthy politician instead of a young boy who has been shot in the head, Tenma refuses. The politician dies, and the boy, Johan Liebert, survives.

Tenma’s decision to save Johan’s life has far-reaching consequences. Johan is a sociopath with a genius-level intellect, and he soon begins to commit a series of murders. Tenma is drawn into a dark web of intrigue as he tries to stop Johan and uncover his true identity.

The Monster soundtrack was composed by Kuniaki Haishima, who is also known for composing the music to Terra Formars and s-CRY-ed. The vinyl edition of the Monster soundtrack will be pressed on red and white vinyl and is currently estimated to be released October 2023.
