Nippon Columbia has announced vinyl represses of several records from the classic anime Galaxy Express 999. Galaxy Express 999 is a Japanese science fiction media franchise created by Leiji Matsumoto. It began as a manga series, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1977 to 1981. The series was adapted into a successful anime television series in 1978 and a feature film in 1979. The anime series spanned 113 episodes along with 3 TV specials.
The first record, Galaxy Express 999: Theme Song Insert Song Collection is a reissue of the LP album first released in 1979 featuring theme songs and insert songs from the anime series.
The second record, Symphonic Poem Galaxy Express 999 was originally released in 1979 and contains a music collection from the Galaxy Express 999 movie.
Finally, Symphonic Poem Goodbye Galaxy Express 999 – Andromeda Terminal Station contains a music collection from the second theatrical movie. This two-disc album was originally released in 1981.
All three reissues are being released as a part of Japan’s Record Day in March 2024 but pre-orders are now available for fans that want to secure their copy of these classic anime LPs.
